Cascade Built Pioneers Passive House Building
Three Passive House Projects | 30+ Press Hits | 100M+ Impressions | Climate Hope Restored
Cascade Built is pioneering the Passive House building movement in Seattle. Beginning with its award-winning and New York Times featured single family project, Park Passive, Cascade Built was on a mission was to prove the concept and then demonstrate its success at scale. This was achieved through storytelling during and after Park Passive’s completion including national and local media hits like KING 5’s Evening Magazine, NPR’s local affiliate KUOW, The Seattle Times Pacific Northwest magazine, Zillow, and more, as well as media-sponsored open house events, and the winning of several awards, including the prestigious AIA House Award and Builder magazine’s design award. The company then proved the concept in a 5-unit townhouse project called View Haus 5, gaining attention again from local and national media like Seattle Refined and Fine Homebuilding. Most recently, Cascade Built completed a 35-unit apartment project in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood, called Pax Futura. The project was featured in Treehugger, Puget Sound Business Journal, the Daily Journal of Commerce and others, as well as hosted representatives from Governor Jay Inslee’s office for an informative tour. Passive House is a building standard that reduces energy consumption by up to 80%, creating an opportunity for buildings to shed their bad reputation for causing climate change and instead contribute to climate hope offering a new proven solution to reducing carbon emissions.
