Catch These 4 Can’t-Miss Seattle Events Before June’s Over
With summer officially kicking off last week, our home base of Seattle isn't missing any opportunity to take advantage of the few and fleeting sunny days we're afforded each year. From festivals to farmer's markets, outdoor movies to civic activism, our little city is buzzing with things to do. While we can hardly believe June is almost over (weren't we just lamenting how lengthy January felt, like, yesterday?), the final weekend before July hits boasts several can't-miss Seattle events, and we're sharing our favorites below.
Seattle Humane Pets & Pints Patio Party - Friday, June 29
What's better than happy hour drinks on a patio? Happy hour drinks on a patio with puppies. This Friday kick off your weekend right, and hang out at Redhook Brewery's downtown location as they welcome Seattle Humane for their Pets & Pints Patio Party! They'll be bringing their mobile adoption van along with adorable dogs young and old looking for their forever homes. You'll be able to meet and greet all of the furry friends up for adoption, and admission is free.
The Vera Project's Search Party - Saturday, June 30
Who doesn't love a good summertime music festival? Bonus points if it involves good beer and a good cause. Lucky for us, The Vera Project's Search Party delivers on all fronts - this Saturday you'll find us at Seattle Center, enjoying music from headliner Young the Giant, sipping on refreshing pilsners and celebrating Seattle. 100% of proceeds from Search Party will be donated to The Vera Project, one of our favorite local nonprofits dedicated to fostering a thriving art and music scene in our city. The event runs from 2pm - 10pm, and tickets are still available - grab yours at the link above before they're gone!
West Seattle Reuse and Recycle Collection Event - Saturday, June 30
Is your apartment cluttered with old appliances or electronics that you're itching to get rid of? West Seattle Junction, Waste Management, West Seattle Chamber, Windermere West Seattleand Seattle Public Utilities are coming together to help you safely dispose of your junk with this Saturday's Reuse and Recycle Collection event. Friendly Earth, Goodwill, Iron Mountain and Styro Recycle will be on site collecting items, so bring your unwanted appliances, clothing and linens, small furniture items and electronics and lend a hand in reducing waste. Families Belong Together Rally - Saturday, June 30
If you've been struggling to stomach the repercussions of the current administration's former "Zero Tolerance" policy, you're not alone. Washington State Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal announced that she and hundreds of organizations, including MoveOn and The National Domestic Workers Alliance, will be taking part in "Families Belong Together" rallies on June 30. Stand up against family separation at the border and other immigrants rights abuses at Seattle's rally. The Community Alliance for Global Justice will be hosting the event, which is taking place at the SeaTac Federal Detention Center.
