Our Intern
We seek a public relations and social media intern who is actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate of a university public relations, marketing, communications, or other related program. The individual must demonstrate the ability to undertake basic public relations writing assignments, posses basic media relations skills, and understand the social media environment. The public relations intern will be mentored and coached by an assistant account executive and senior account person.
Core Responsibilities
- Drafts and edits basic public relations materials - pitches and press releases
- Supports social media activities, including campaign development, drafting posts, and creating reports
- Shares client events with local media outlets
- Conducts relevant research when needed
- Assists in creating media lists
- Promotes a positive image for the firm
Core Competencies
- Excellent Writer: Must be a proficient writer and posses good grammatical skills
- Multi-Tasker: Ability to prioritize effectively and manage various tasks during set time periods
- Strong Thinking/Analytical Skills: Brings smart ideas to the table drawn from experience and/or research. Searches for an answer before asking questions.
Education and Experience
Required:
- Junior status or higher
- 6 months to 1 year of previous experience through an internship at a PR firm or media outlet
- Computer literate, proficient in Windows and Microsoft suite
Bonus, but not required:
- Any graphic or web design experience

The Fine Print
Hours/Pay: 12-24 hours per week; paid or credit
Duration: minimum six months
