Meet Kendsy: Our Summer 2022 Intern!
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My name is Kendsy! I just graduated from Gonzaga University where I majored in public relations and minored in Spanish, digital marketing and sports management. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and plan to be here for a few months before moving up to Seattle and living with some of my college friends! I love finding new restaurants with my family and friends, going shopping with my sister, hanging with my bulldog, Bev, and recently I’ve been very into cheesy romance books (my recent favorite being Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren).
There are many PR agencies, why Revolution?
The main factor that stood out to me about Revolution PR was their commitment to sustainability. During my junior year of college, I did a project on the fast fashion industry and it opened my eyes to the importance of sustainable shopping and living. I knew that I wanted to work for a company that shared those same values, so I was thrilled when I learned more about Rev and what they stood for as an agency.
What attracted you to pursue PR as a career?
I first learned about public relations when I was in middle school and had a friend whose dad was in the PR industry. I loved hearing about his work and loved the idea that every day was different. Once I was in college, I took some PR classes and knew that I was in the right place. Both the content I was being taught and the people I was surrounded with made me realize that this was the perfect career path for me. It allows me to be outgoing, creative and positive - characteristics that I have always used to describe myself.
We’re an agency of self-proclaimed wellness junkies! What is your favorite trend in the wellness space right now?
I have recently been super interested in skincare and learning about natural makeup companies. I’ve always loved Glossier and their business approach to makeup and beauty. My most recent obsession is Supergoop, specifically the Unseen Screen - that product can take all my money.
Is there a workout that you’re loving right now?
My all time favorite workout is playing sports. I played many sports throughout high school and intramurals were one of my favorite things at Gonzaga, whether it was basketball or volleyball or softball. I also taught spin classes over this past year and I can confidently say it was the most fun job / workout I have ever done. I chose my playlists, built the workout, turned on disco lights and was able to workout with my friends to loud, dancing music. I haven’t done a spin class since graduating but I want to get back into it, running just isn't as fun!
What media outlet (publication, podcast, blog, etc.) are you loving right now and why?
I don’t read many publications or listen to podcasts (I need to find some) but I am always staying up to date on the Half-Baked Harvest blog. I started following her on Instagram over five years ago and I love everything that she posts. Reading her blog makes my mouth water and inspires me to get into the kitchen and cook something up.
If you had to choose one thing that you are most passionate about, what would it be and why?
I’m very passionate about being intentional with my family and friends. Covid made me realize the importance of meaningful relationships with the people you surround yourself with, and highlighted how important it is to check in on your friends and family. The simplest “This reminded me of you” or “I miss you!” text can change someone’s entire day, so I try to do that often knowing that it may influence them to do the same with one of their friends or family members.
