2021 Intern: Meet Catherine!
We’re so excited to have Catherine join our team as our PR intern! Learn a little more about her in the interview below.
Tell us a little about yourself:
I just graduated (two days before I started with Revolution) from Seattle University! I had a double major in Communications and Media with a specialization in strategic communications and Arts Leadership. A mouthful I know. I grew up in Olympia, Washington and also spent my teen years in Unionville, Connecticut. In my free time, I love to bake and have been developing a cookbook in the past few months as a passion project. I love cooking seasonally, sustainably and plant-based as much as possible.
There are a lot of PR agencies out there, why did you pick Revolution for your PR internship?
Revolution stood out to me from the beginning of my search for post-graduate opportunities as a unique agency. First of all, an all-woman team that I could work with? There is no greater draw for me. I love how passionate and mission-driven everyone at Revolution is. All their approach to clients seemed so personal and caring compared to some other agencies I’ve seen. They focus on holistic wellness for themselves, their clients and everyone they interact with. It seemed like an absolutely amazing opportunity and so aligned with my personal passions and goals.
What attracted you to pursue PR as a career?
I describe myself as a person that is simultaneously a creative thinker and someone who enjoys a lot of structure. PR is a unique field where you need creativity and artistry in your writing, and personality yet still have the ability to follow a structured and organized plan. I love being able to connect with people and enjoy developing creative out-of-the-box content. I genuinely find it fun and fulfilling!
We’re an agency of self-proclaimed wellness junkies! What is your favorite trend in the wellness space right now?
I’ve been loving how the dialogue around self-care has changed recently in the wellness space. Recently, I’ve been into Inner Workout. They are a platform that encourages self-care as a holistic activity for your body, energy, mental and emotional health, and a way to find bliss. I love how they give you tangible resources for self-care and wellness for all parts of you. It’s SO important to take care of more than just your physical body.
Is there a workout that you’re loving right now?
I’ve started learning how to roller skate! It’s something I’ve always wanted to try but was held back by fear. Swooshing along Lake Union with the wind in my hair and wheels on my feet has been an amazing way to get outside and get some Vitamin D! Mother nature knows living in Seattle has made me deficient in the winter months (cue the happy lights).
One of our biggest motivators when it comes to exercise is being able to sport cute activewear! Is there a specific item that you’re particularly obsessed with these days?
Almost all of the activewear in my closet is Seattle-based Girlfriend Collective. I recently got the Tempo Tank in white. It’s a clean, simple fit and SO soft. I also love supporting Seattle businesses and especially ones that allow you to recycle your clothes. A win-win-win for me.
If you had to choose one thing that you are most passionate about, what would it be and why?
I am extremely passionate about the arts! I believe art -- be it music, a film, live performance, visual art, or anything else that connects to your soul is an important and vital part of human existence. Art allows us to connect to each-other, ourselves, and is a way to dream and build a more beautiful world.
