Things We’ve Learned From Dad
From tying our shoes, to riding a bike and balancing a checkbook, dads teach us many valuable lessons throughout our lives. However, it’s often the silliest lessons that become lasting memories and make dad, well, dad. To celebrate this, we’re sharing a few favorite things we’ve learned from ours.
“My dad taught me many invaluable life skills – like how to reverse out of a parking spot without hitting a car, that yard work is the bane of my existence and most importantly, to always have a joke in my back pocket. His favorite was: ‘Why can’t you eat a clown? They taste funny.’ Classic, right?” –Shauna
“My dad tapped into my love for learning with fun games like count the piggybank and keep it, which in turn sparked my initiative for earning money. He also has a quirky sense of humor that I love and see in myself. My son has it too now, telling jokes and saying silly things to get people to smile.” –Jennifer
“My dad and I have been going to football games together since I was a little girl (Go Saints!). I now share in his superstitions and will only wear my lucky shirt on game days- home or away! We might laugh about how silly it is in front of other people, but you won’t catch either of us walking into the Superdome on Sunday wearing the wrong outfit.” –Sarah
“My dad taught me how to use roadside assistance to my advantage, the best sunflower seed chewing/spitting methods and how to thrift shop (he did it before it was cool—thanks Macklemore).” –Alex
